Two young children died in a fire at a Greenspoint apartment on Wednesday night, and their mother and grandfather were injured while trying to escape. The Houston Fire Department responded to the blaze on Casa Grande Drive and Buckle Lane around 11 p.m., encountering heavy smoke, according to Click2Houston.
The mother and grandfather were injured and taken to Memorial Hermann hospital for treatment, as reported by FOX 26 Houston. The grandfather suffered burns while trying to reenter the home to rescue the children.
About 60 firefighters responded to contain the fire, working to prevent further damage. The Houston Fire Department’s arson unit will investigate the cause, and the names and ages of the children have not been released.
