A routine morning in Phoenix turned chaotic when a police SUV was struck and overturned after a collision with another vehicle. The rollover crash, which occurred on Saturday near 7th Avenue and Grant Street, resulted in injuries to three individuals, including two Phoenix Police officers and their passenger. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, the department responded to the incident at approximately 11:50 a.m. to find their Tahoe upside-down with a second SUV located nearby.

The police department, which swiftly took to investigate the scene, preliminarily suggests the patrol vehicle was headed southbound while the other SUV was westbound before running a red light and initiating the crash. Arizona's Family reported that a police vehicle rolled over on its roof in the aftermath. Despite the disturbing visuals of the overturned vehicle, the Phoenix Police confirmed the injuries sustained during the incident were not life-threatening. However, "The passenger in police custody had serious but non-life-threatening injuries," according to a subsequent statement given by Phoenix PD to Arizona's Family.

All the injured parties were quickly transported to a nearby hospital. The two Phoenix officers, a man and a woman, are reported to have sustained minor injuries. The third individual, who was in custody at the time of the incident, was also hospitalized. The driver of the second SUV involved in the collision was treated at the scene and has not been reported as injured.

Police have stated that impairment does not appear to have played a part in the collision, although they are still working to ascertain the speed at which the second vehicle was traveling. As the investigation is ongoing, the area remained closed to traffic while authorities worked the scene for evidence and witness accounts. No official statement has been made on whether any charges will be recommended against the SUV driver who apparently failed to stop at the traffic signal, "The other driver involved wasn’t hurt. At this point, police do not suspect impairment as a factor in the wreck," according to the information obtained by Phoenix PD and reported by Arizona's Family.
