Hillsborough County residents and visitors should prepare for minor travel disruptions as multiple road closures are on the horizon due to scheduled railroad crossing maintenance by CSX. These temporary closures, spanning across four different roads in eastern Hillsborough County, will each last for a four-day period in the coming weeks to allow for the necessary work.
According to information from Hillsborough County's official announcement, Parsons Avenue is set to reopen tomorrow after a brief closure. It will be followed by Falkenburg Road, which will become impassable between East Broadway Avenue and Nancy Watkins Drive starting from Oct. 20 until 24th. Road users should be aware that these closures may affect their daily commutes and plan their routes accordingly.
Further disruptions will occur as Sydney Washer Road closes from October 27 to October 31, and South Forbes Road from November 3 to November 7. These closures, affecting the stretch between Salem Church Road and Sydney Dover Road for Sydney Washer Road, and the section between Sydney Road and Varnadore Lane for South Forbes Road, will necessitate detours for all through traffic. County crews will be present alongside CSX maintenance teams to ensure the roads are left with smooth transitions across the tracks post-maintenance.
Detour information will be provided on-site through posted signage and has been communicated to navigation apps to assist in redirecting traffic around the closures. Motorists are advised to anticipate delays and budget extra time for travel or seek alternative routes during these periods. Local access will be maintained for residents and businesses in the immediate area, though through-traffic will be rerouted.
