The NYPD has issued a sketch of Jacob Pritchett, an 11-year-old non-verbal autistic boy missing from Brownsville, Brooklyn. As reported by PIX11, the boy was the subject of a wellness check spurred by the Administration for Children’s Services last Wednesday, but he was absent from the apartment on Howard Avenue when officers arrived. The current state of the mother, who has not been charged, underscored the troubling scene: she was discovered in a disheveled home and subsequently hospitalized for evaluation.
Further complicating the case, the boy's mother pushed back against authorities, vehemently denying she ever had a child, this, revelation came when NYPD and ACS representatives made the initial inquiry into Jacob's whereabouts. According to information obtained by the New York Post, NYPD detectives enlisted a K9 unit during their search of the premises, which detected signs of human blood in the vicinity of the refrigerator, although no trace of the boy was found in the apartment.
Neighbors had reported to authorities that they hadn’t seen the child in almost two months, leading ACS to investigate the home prior to police involvement. During that initial inspection on September 25, the mother refused to show her son's birth certificate, deepening concerns for the child's safety and whereabouts. Despite these efforts, details of the boy's current condition or location remain elusive.
Jacob Pritchett is described as having a medium complexion, brown eyes, and black hair. Given his inability "to provide any identifying information," as per the New York Post, the public's assistance is requested for any leads. Those with information can contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline or visit their website, ways to aid in the investigation that has gripped the community and law enforcement alike with urgency and grave concern for the young boy's safety.
