As the I-15 South Widening Project pushes forward, the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) has laid out a spate of traffic restrictions sure to impact commuters traveling through the Vegas area. According to the roadwork schedule, drivers can expect nightly lane and ramp closures, beginning Sunday, October 12, and spanning until Friday, October 17, as construction crews work on various improvements along this major artery.

The crux of the closures will see the I-15 reduced to a single lane in both directions near Blue Diamond Road. More specifically, northbound traffic will shrink to one lane from Sloan Rd to Blue Diamond Rd, while southbound lanes will mirror the restriction from Blue Diamond Rd to Sloan Rd. These limitations are set to take place nightly, primed for off-peak hours from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. to mitigate the impact on daytime travel.

On October 13, more involved closures will roll out, affecting the Blue Diamond Rd on and off-ramps to north and southbound I-15—these will be completely closed overnight. However, eastbound Blue Diamond Rd's on-ramp to southbound I-15 will remain open, along with the eastbound flyover ramp to northbound I-15, offering some relief amidst the infrastructural convulsions.

The tightening of vehicular flows will adjust on Wednesday, October 14, as northbound I-15 eases up to three lanes open from Blue Diamond Rd to Warm Springs Rd. Yet, peace is short-lived, as the eastbound Blue Diamond Rd flyover ramp to northbound I-15 will shutter nightly until October 17. Motorists are advised to exercise caution in work zones, with NDOT recommending the use of alternate detour routes, where feasible.
