The Vegas Golden Knights Foundation has made a landmark donation to the ongoing efforts to memorialize one of the city's darkest days. With a $1 million contribution to the Vegas Strong Fund, the foundation is aiding the construction of the Forever One Memorial, intended to honor those affected by the Route 91 Harvest Festival tragedy. The announcement, made at City National Arena, represents the first substantial private funding for a project that seeks to commemorate the spirit of the city post-tragedy, according to News 3LV.
Located on the historic Las Vegas Strip, at the very site where the harrowing events unfolded in 2017, the memorial will be a testament to the 58 lives lost and offering solace to the more than 850 injured, along with the 22,000 survivors and first responders. Marking the spot where the festival once brought joy and music, the Forever One Memorial aims to serve as a beacon of remembrance and healing for a community bound by shared grief and resilience. In a statement obtained by News 3LV, Jan Jones Blackhurst, chairperson of the Vegas Strong Fund Board of Directors said, "This generous gift continues that legacy of compassion and strength, ensuring the Forever One Memorial will stand as a permanent tribute to the lives we lost and the resilience of all who were forever changed."
Alongside the donation, the community is invited to participate in the "Path of Remembrance" Commemorative Paver Campaign, an initiative allowing individuals to purchase personalized pavers to be included in the memorial. Those interested in contributing to the project, or purchasing a commemorative paver, can visit the Forever One Memorial website for further details, as per News 3LV.
Shared via social media by Clark County Nevada, the Vegas Golden Knights' donation is not just a monetary contribution but also a message of solidarity and commitment to Las Vegas - a community that prides itself on resilience and unity in the face of adversity. In a gesture that echoes the heart of Vegas, the team's donation to the Forever One Memorial Fund is meant to encapsulate the spirit of "#VegasStrong, forever." As echoed in the X post from Clark County Nevada, the memorial will honor the victims, support the survivors and forever stand as a somber and yet uplifting reminder of the indomitable nature of this vibrant city.
