A Waimea man faces multiple drug charges after police discovered a significant stash of narcotics at his home. The Hawaiʻi Police Department, upon executing a search warrant on the morning of Thursday, arrested 46-year-old Joel Gorai. The list of confiscated items includes a mix of methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana in various forms, psilocybin, and drug paraphernalia.
Officials detailed that the cache recovered by Vice officers at 9:10 a.m. contained 24.16 grams of methamphetamine, 21.7 grams of cocaine, and 381.7 grams of marijuana, among other substances. Joel Gorai, now facing several charges, saw his home swiftly turned to publicly become a ledger of illicit trade. The Vice detectives charged Gorai with four counts of second-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, two counts of first-degree promotion of a harmful drug, and other related offenses, as reported by the Hawaiʻi Police Department.
The total bail was set at $143,025, manifesting the severity of the charges brought against Gorai. These charges include one count of second-degree promotion of a detrimental drug along with two counts of fourth-degree promotion of a harmful drug, as per the Hawaiʻi Police Department.
