Wake Forest commuters can expect changes starting next month as GoTriangle adjusts its routes. Route WRX will transition from GoRaleigh to GoTriangle, offering all-day service between Wake Forest and Triangle Town Center, along with peak express trips to Downtown Raleigh, according to the Wake Forest.
Starting Sunday, Nov. 9, Route WRX will offer hourly service from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Morning buses will depart Wake Forest for Raleigh Union Station Bus Facility (RUS Bus) at around 5:40 a.m. and 6:40 a.m., with return trips from Raleigh at about 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Outside peak hours, GoRaleigh’s Route 1 at Triangle Town Center will provide service to Downtown Raleigh every 10 minutes.
Mayor Vivian Jones of Wake Forest, and member of GoTriangle's Board of Trustees, conveyed her enthusiasm for these upcoming adjustments. She stated in the official announcement, "As Wake Forest continues to boom, more transit options are coming." She added, "I’m so excited for these service changes as our town and region continue to move forward."
The WRX route will provide direct access to key locations including Raleigh Union Station Bus Facility, the NC Government Campus, and Triangle Town Center. Stops like South Main Street will serve nearby places such as Walmart and Wake Forest Middle School. Within Wake Forest, the Go Wake Forest microtransit service will help with local travel. For trips to downtown Raleigh, the RUS Bus offers connections, including access to Amtrak’s broader network.
There are several updates to the WRX route stops. New stops in Wake Forest include South Main Street at Wake Drive, Ligon Mill Road, and Rogers Road. On the way back to Raleigh, new stops will be added at the Aldi Food Market and North Blount Street at East Peace Street during the morning peak. Stops at 8908 Wilmington St. at Davie Street and 8063 Salisbury St. at West Morgan Street will be removed.
