It's that time again when goblins and superheroes take over the streets, not in search of mischief but candy and festive fun. Wake Forest's annual Halloween Boo Bash, a treat-centric celebration hosted by the town's Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department, is set to return on October 18, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Families with little ones up to 12 years of age can revel in an assortment of ghostly games, inflatable amusements, and of course, food trucks — an essential component for any outdoor festivity, according to the Town of Wake Forest's announcement.

The Boo Bash, made possible by local businesses including Capital Chevrolet, lays out its welcome mat along parts of East Owen Avenue, South Brooks Street, and South Taylor Street. And while costumes are but optional, the most impressive get-ups will snag a spot on the Town website and social media pages. Adventurous eaters can indulge in a variety of cuisines with vendors like Crave Hot Dogs & BBQ, The Flat Drum, and Cartel Tacos Food Truck in attendance. Moreover, for those with a sweet tooth, treats from Lumpy's Ice Cream and Nikki's Delightful Treats Italian Icees await.

As for parking, the Wake Forest Center for Active Aging, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Wake Electric open their lots for free parking during the event. Although, attendees should be sharp-eyed: not all parking lots that seem public are so, like the Renaissance Plaza parking lot. Signs will guide the way to lots designated for the Boo Bash, as mentioned in the official update. Additionally, parking for those requiring accessibility features is provided at The Forks Cafeteria & Catering at 339 S. Brooks St.

Wake Forest hasn't forgotten the plethora of local businesses who've pitched in to make this Halloween Boo Bash possible, from OrthoNC to Wildberry Pediatric Dentistry. A full list of sponsors can be found at the event's webpage. And while the Boo Bash heralds the season's spooky cheer, it’s a gentle reminder that, when it comes to traditional trick-or-treating, October 31 remains the date to beat. Families are encouraged to keep the spirit alive and hit the neighborhood blocks between 6 and 8 p.m., a recommendation backed by the Wake Forest Police Department.
