The chill of winter prompts a community initiative in Wake Forest, where residents are answering the call to provide warmth for those in need. The local Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources (PRCR) Department is spearheading the “Warm Your Hearts with Coats Drive.” The drive, already in motion, encourages citizens to donate new or gently used coats and jackets until Oct. 25, as reported by Wake Forest's official site.
Efforts to gather winter apparel for children and teenagers are concentrated at various community center drop-off points. The Alston-Massenburg Center, located at 416 N. Taylor St., welcomes contributions between noon and 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. Similarly, Flaherty Park Community Center and Joyner Park Community Center are accepting donations within their respective operating hours, ensuring that multiple locations are available for residents to partake in this community support initiative.
All sizes are needed and appreciated, thereby making it an accessible way for locals to pass on outgrown or unused outerwear. The culmination of this charitable drive will see the gathered coats handed out to those who need them most, with distribution taking place on Nov. 1 at Alston-Massenburg Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
As the need for warmth transcends every autumn, the “Warm Your Hearts with Coats Drive” stands as a testament to community solidarity. James Triplette, the AMC Supervisor, is the contact for further information as made available by the town's announcement. His contact details include the phone number, 919-554-6189, and the email, [email protected], for those looking to contribute or seek assistance from the program.
