Rolesville residents can expect enhanced medical services soon, as WakeMed has secured the certificate of need from NC DHHS to establish a new healthplex in the area, slated to be the system’s sixth of its kind and to house its tenth full-service emergency department. The Rolesville Healthplex will occupy a 32,000 square-foot space featuring a 24/7 emergency department with 12 treatment rooms equipped with diagnostic imaging, lab, and pharmacy services, aiming to treat an estimated 7,965 patients in its first year, according to the Town of Rolesville.
Rolesville Mayor Ronnie Currin highlighted the project's importance, stating, "This will be a massive benefit for people in Rolesville,” explaining that the growing population necessitates nearby medical facilities, and the new facility is expected to enhance response to emergencies and provide high-quality care to the town's residents. The WakeMed Rolesville Healthplex, which will be located at the corner of Burlington Mills Road and Walls Cove Lane and with construction set to commence in spring 2026, intends to open its doors in fall 2027, while during WakeMed’s 2024 fiscal year, the health system treated 44,000 patients from Rolesville, Wake Forest, Youngsville, and north/northeast Raleigh in its Emergency Departments, as per the Town of Rolesville.
Carolyn Knaup, senior vice president of Strategic Ventures & Ambulatory Operations for WakeMed, expressed contentment over the state approval, remarking, “We are pleased that the State approved the application, demonstrating the need for convenient, high-quality care in the Rolesville area and surrounding communities,” highlighting the initiative’s potential to better serve patients and their families. Knaup told Town of Rolesville's official website, “The opportunity to bring additional care to these rapidly growing northeastern Wake County communities allows us to better serve our patients and their families, ensuring WakeMed is well positioned to meet the need for the benefit of those we serve.”
