As Washington County gears up for its Special Election on November 4, the window for voter registration is fast closing; residents have until next Tuesday, October 14, to ensure they're registered and their details are current, a necessity for those who've recently moved or undergone a name change, those newly naturalized as U.S. citizens, and young folks who've just celebrated their 16th birthday and are stepping into their civic power for the first time.
For those checking the calendar and ticking off the days, ballots are set to start arriving in mailboxes from Wednesday, October 15, but if by Wednesday, October 22, your mailbox remains barren, devoid of the ballot that is your conduit to democracy, Washington County Elections recommends a prompt phone call to 503-846-5800 or an email sent flying through the digital ether to [email protected], according to a press release from Washington County.
It's also important to note that young voters, those registered ones who haven't yet spun around the sun 18 times, they will be poised but will have to wait to cast a ballot until a subsequent election—the one that orbits back after they've crossed that significant temporal threshold.
