On a Saturday that marked more than just the weekend for women veterans, the Washington DC VA Medical Center opened its doors for a unique event titled "The Second Spring: A Menopause Information Fair." Specifically designed for women veterans who are experiencing perimenopause, menopause, or postmenopause, the fair provided a space for both support and education on this often-overlooked aspect of women's health. As reported by the medical center, over 60 women veterans gathered to partake in various health services offered that day.
The fair's agenda was comprehensive and directly addressed the nuanced health care needs of aging women veterans. Participants benefited from wellness checks and immunizations, along with screenings related to the Service Act & PACT Act.
