Authorities in Watauga County are on the hunt for five suspects implicated in a violent outbreak following a road collision in Boone. As WBTV reports, a confrontation escalated into an assault after a Ford Explorer and a goose-neck trailer crashed at the intersection of Crystal Mountain and Shulls Mill Road on the evening of September 26.
The incident, causing traffic to congest, drew out a hostile encounter wherein two Hispanic males, two white males, and one Hispanic female, allegedly launched an attack on the individuals involved in the accident. According to the WCNC article, a victim was reportedly struck in the head by a rock thrown through the Explorer's windshield, while a female was shoved to the ground and another male was assaulted by the group.
Following the multi-person assault, the aggressors fled the scene in separate vehicles. The Watauga County Sheriff's Office is actively seeking information on the suspects and their vehicles. They urge witnesses or anyone with pertinent details to come forward, as shared in the WSOCTV report.
