Eastbound Interstate 70 near Wentzville Parkway will have a lane closure. The right lane of eastbound I-70 will close starting Friday at 9 p.m. and is scheduled to reopen by next Sunday at 9 a.m., weather permitting, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT).
The lane closure is part of an ongoing improvement project. Crews will be constructing drainage systems related to a temporary railroad bridge at the curve between Wentzville Parkway and Route Z. This work is in preparation for the eventual realignment of I-70 at the railroad bridge site. A permanent structure is planned as part of the I-70 overhaul in the area, aimed at improving travel flow over time.
These infrastructure efforts are part of the larger Improve I-70 Warrenton to Wentzville Project, which began in November 2024. The project is expected to be completed around 2028. This work focuses on the eastern segment of I-70.
Funding for the project comes from Missouri’s FY2024 budget, which allocated $2.8 billion in General Revenue following approval from the governor and legislature. The project will add an extra lane in each direction on nearly 200 miles of I-70, stretching from Blue Springs to Wentzville.
More information is available on MoDOT’s official website. Drivers planning to travel on I-70 that weekend are advised to consider alternate routes or prepare for possible delays due to the lane closure.
