Chicago continues to struggle with a spate of weekend shootings that have left multiple people dead and several wounded. According to NBC Chicago, a 21-year-old man was fatally shot in the Garfield Park neighborhood Saturday. Another man, 29, was also injured when a suspect opened fire on them as they stood on the sidewalk in the 100 block of South Pulaski at around 2 p.m., with the younger victim later dying from wounds to the groin and torso. The older victim, shot in both arms, was in fair condition at an area hospital.

Over the weekend, a grim tally rose as three people were killed and at least ten others suffered gunshot wounds, reported by CBS News Chicago. The ages of those hit in the gunfire ranged from 16 to 49. Shootings were widespread, with incidents occurring from the South Side to the West Side, underscoring a persistent challenge for the city's policymakers and law enforcement.

On Friday evening, police found two men shot, one fatally, with a gunshot wound to the head inside an apartment on the 900 block of West 85th Street. Another man was found in an alley, his body also bearing the last messages of violence. He was taken to Christ Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. As of now, no arrests have been made in these incidents, which adds to the bleak sense of unfinished business in the city's quest to curb gun violence.

Elsewhere on Saturday, in the 3900 block of South Kedzie Avenue, the Chicago Police Department responded to a shooting involving an ICE agent. According to the Department of Homeland Security, the federal agent shot a woman after their vehicle was reportedly rammed by other cars in Brighton Park. Although the Chicago Police Department was on the scene to provide safety and manage traffic, they indicated they were not involved in the incident's investigation: "CPD said they were not involved in the incident or its investigation," as stated by CBS News Chicago.
