A violent weekend in Jacksonville has left four people injured across three separate shootings, with one individual sustaining life-threatening injuries, reported local law enforcement. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating these incidents, starting with a shooting that occurred at the Red Roof Inn on Harts Road on Saturday evening.
Around 5:30 p.m., a young man in his early 20s was shot outside the motel's entrance, and detectives confirmed that the suspect fled the scene in a white SUV, which was later found abandoned near the hotel; the victim, now in stable condition, suffered a gunshot wound to the shin, First Coast News noted upon reviewing the details shared by the police. Following that, under ninety minutes later and not too far away, another shooting took place on Evergreen Avenue; a victim was walking when suddenly he heard a pop, and realized that he had been shot in the leg, he managed to call 911 and paramedics swiftly took him to a local hospital where he is now also in stable condition, this according to what the victim told Action News Jax.
The third shooting, which proved to be the most critical, took place early yesterday outside a bar on Edgewood Avenue South, where a man in his 30s received multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, while another victim, also in his 30s, transported himself to a hospital and is in stable condition. According to law enforcement, the crowd that gathered after the bar closed scattered immediately following the shooting, making it challenging for the police to find witnesses, News4Jax added, noting the issues the investigators are facing in piecing together the events of that night.
