Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey will present Wilmington agent David Ward with the Order of the Guardian Award, the North Carolina Department of Insurance’s highest honor, on Thursday. Ward founded the David Ward State Farm Agency in October 1976 and has served the Wilmington community for decades, according to the North Carolina Department of Insurance.
Ward has earned 22 years in the Legion of Honor, 25 years in the Honor Club, and six years as an Ambassador of Travel with State Farm. He has also been involved with the Wilmington Azalea Festival and supported local groups, including the Boys and Girls Home, the food bank, and youth sports programs, as reported by the North Carolina Department of Insurance.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey will host a citation ceremony at 9 a.m. at the David Ward State Farm Agency, 4818 New Centre Drive in Wilmington. The event is open to the media and will recognize David Ward’s work in the insurance field. At 10 a.m., Commissioner Causey will visit the Wilmington Fire Department Headquarters at 801 Market Street to meet with local firefighters and tour the facility, as stated by the North Carolina Department of Insurance.
