The City of Woodstock is setting the stage for environmental stewardship through a collaborative effort with Live Thrive’s CHaRM, bringing to the residents an opportunity to properly dispose of their household hazardous waste. Announced for Saturday, November 15, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the local Woodstock City Church will serve as a gathering ground for this significant recycling event.
Acceptable items for the drop-off include paints—with a limit of 10 cans per participant—chemicals, pesticides, and even those pesky styrofoams and clean, dry plastic films that often challenge the conventional recycling systems. However, it should be noted, in order to handle hazardous materials at this event, online registration is a mandatory step to get involved. The detailed list of acceptable materials was reported by the City of Woodstock in their official news release.
It's imperative to underscore that this event is open exclusively for the denizens of Woodstock; commercial entities or home-based enterprises will need to seek alternative avenues for their hazardous waste disposal. The intention is clear—to support local residents in making environmentally responsible decisions that directly affect the well-being of their community and beyond. According to the information shared by the City of Woodstock, "Events like this help keep hazardous materials out of landfills, reduce environmental risks, and encourage recycling in our community."
