The Ysleta Independent School District has once again outdone itself, securing the top spot in the El Paso area for the fifth consecutive year, according to the 2026 Best Schools and Districts in America rankings. The announcement came from Niche, a renowned online platform for school recommendations, which places Ysleta ISD at a noteworthy No. 140 position statewide in Texas.
Superintendent Dr. Xavier De La Torre expressed his pride in a recent statement, emphasizing the district's dedication to student potential: "Excellence isn’t just a goal at the Ysleta Independent School District – it is a tradition," said Dr. De La Torre, as per Ysleta ISD. Rating strong across the board, Ysleta ISD saw outstanding grades, such as an A+ for Teachers and an overall A- grade reflecting their top-tier position.
Among the standout achievements in this year's rankings, Valle Verde Early College High School was named No. 1 Best Public High School in the district. Eastwood High School followed suit, leading as the No. 1 Comprehensive Public High School. The elementary and middle school rankings shone just as brightly, with Eastwood Knolls International School capturing the top spots for both categories in the district.
Dr. De La Torre remained humbly rooted, acknowledging the collective effort in maintaining this status: "Our success isn’t just about a letter grade or number; it’s about the daily hard work that happens in the four corners of the classroom with our dedicated teachers, support staff, and principals," he told Ysleta ISD. The district not only nabbed local acclaim but also earned recognition across the state, ranking high in sectors like the Best School Districts for Athletes and Best Places to Teach.
