The San Marcos Police Department is delving into two separate shootings that transpired Saturday night and early Sunday, which saw multiple individuals wounded and one person's journey ending in fatality. According to KXAN, the initial shooting unfolded in the heart of downtown San Marcos around 10 p.m. on Saturday, with police responding posthaste to multiple gunshots near Kissing Alley on the square, where bars were subsequently directed to shutter in the wake of the violence.
Following the downtown affray, three victims were rushed to the hospital and it was later confirmed by authorities that one individual did not survive; San Marcos police are on the lookout for two suspects described as Black men, one clad in a black hoodie with white letters, dark pants, and dark shoes, the other donning a black and light grey two-tone jacket, with dark pants and a beanie, "the suspect used to leave the scene — a four-door Audi A3," as stated in a release obtained by KXAN. As the night deepened and crept towards the nascent hours of Sunday, officers were summoned to a second scene of tumult.
At approximately 1:25 a.m., police were summoned to the 1600 block of Post Road, as indicated by information from CBS Austin. A victim there, found in the aftermath of gunshots yet again puncturing the stillness, was taken swiftly to a hospital by private vehicle; the individual responsible for this second firing has yet to be unmasked by investigators. The San Marcos Police Department has expressed its belief that the Post Road shooting is an isolated event, unlinked to the preceding downtown skirmish.
Authorities are actively collating details and pressing for witnesses to step forward with any insights that might illuminate these dark deeds of gunfire; anyone with information concerning either incident is implored to contact the San Marcos police at 512-753-2108.
