A 15-year-old boy was confirmed to be charged as an adult in connection with a deadly shooting that took place at Star Spencer High School, according to authorities on Tuesday. This incident tragically culminated with the death of a 17-year-old student, a senior at the school named Sebastian Guyton, KFOR reports. The altercation began with two female students and escalated into a firearms incident. The police detailed how this confrontation resulted in the violence that led to Guyton being shot several times.
According to court documents, Jesse Jackson III pulled out a gun during the altercation and admitted to firing the shots that led to his indictment on first-degree murder charges. Guyton was found by law enforcement with multiple gunshot wounds and later died at a local hospital, reported to News 9.
Lavell Sims, Guyton's boxing coach, poignantly conveyed to News 9 his devastation, stating, "When this happened, it just punched me, hit me right in the stomach." Sims also expressed concern regarding the accessibility of weapons, asserting, "It shouldn’t be this easy for these kids to get their hands on guns and ammunition."
The suspect, Jackson, is being held at the Oklahoma County Juvenile Detention Center and, despite his age, will face the justice system as an adult. His bond was set at an extraordinary $10,000,000, and his next court appearance is on the schedule on Friday, per News 9.
