A 21-year-old man is facing serious charges after a shooting in East McKeesport that left another man critically injured. Police have identified the suspect as Timere Johnson, now charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, and recklessly endangering another person, as reported by WPXI. The altercation, which unfolded on the 500 block of Woodmont Avenue near Josephine Avenue, prompted a swift response from police and medics at approximately 4:43 p.m. yesterday.
The victim was discovered with a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was subsequently transported to the hospital in critical condition. Authorities, including Allegheny County Police, have assured the public that there is no ongoing danger to the community as "Detectives have identified all individuals involved in this shooting," according to a statement detailed by WPXI.
Following the incident, a resident, Paula Gilmer, shared her experience with WTAE, stating, "I heard maybe three or four shots, sounded very close and then we just saw the police and everything outside. It was scary. I wanted to keep my doors locked." As the community grapples with the violence that has unfolded, officials are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
Johnson, the accused shooter, is currently held at the Allegheny County Jail awaiting his preliminary hearing.
