Philadelphia has seen the arrest of a 22-year-old man in connection with a fatal double shooting that took place last month. The suspect, identified as Abou Keita, was apprehended by authorities while he was inside a parked vehicle on the 2200 block of South Felton Street, as reported by 6abc. Keita is facing charges that include murder and attempted murder, stemming from the October 9 incident that left one man dead and another injured.
The scene of the shooting, near Broad Street and Packer Avenue, became the site of an investigation after 23-year-old Hasson Mason was found shot multiple times to the face and body and later pronounced dead at Jefferson Hospital. Another 23-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds to the torso was discovered two blocks away and received treatment at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition. This account was detailed by FOX29 News.
Officials described a chaotic scene on the evening of the shooting, with over 20 shots fired, according to CBS News. A vehicle associated with the victims, a four-door sedan, was found by investigators abandoned and running, having been struck no less than 15 times by gunfire. Chief Inspector Scott Small further elucidated on the hail of bullets that primarily targeted the driver's side and the vehicle's rear windshield.
Eyewitness accounts suggest that one or both of the victims were inside the car when the shots were fired. The ordeal ended with the victims’ car colliding with a parked vehicle before Keita allegedly fled the scene. Fortunately, a woman in the second vehicle was not injured in the crash. In the wake of the incident, law enforcement officials are asking anyone with information to come forward, urging contact through the police tip line at 215-686-TIPS, as indicated by 6abc.
