A 3-year-old boy's life was tragically cut short this past Saturday when he was hit and killed by a truck in West Houston. Click2Houston reports the incident occurred around 10:40 p.m. on Ocee Street near Pagewood Lane. The child, walking with his mother, "got away" and ran into the street, where he was struck by a Toyota pickup truck whose driver then failed to stop and render aid.
Found later without its driver, the suspect's vehicle was recovered by police, as pointed out in a FOX 26 Houston article. Occurring close to Fondren Road and Richmond Avenue, at an apartment complex, the details of the hit-and-run remain scarce. As per the latest information available, the identity of both the victim and the person involved in the accident are yet to be released by the authorities. Allegedly seeing something across the street, the boy broke away from his mother to cross the street when the incident happened.
While the investigation is still ongoing, the Houston police continue their search for the driver. The tragic loss of such a young life has rippled through the community, leaving law enforcement determined to piece together the circumstances of the boy's untimely demise and why the driver chose not to stop. As of now, police have not provided any suspect information to the public.
