It's that time of year again when the community unites for a cause that goes beyond just physical fitness. The 32nd Annual Ride & Run With The Stars event is set to take place at Fort De Soto Park on December 6. Organized by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, this event is more than just a display of endurance; it's a fundraiser to support those in need during the holiday season.
For those ready to lace up their sneakers or hit the pedals, the registration is open and includes a variety of events. Runners can register for the 5k chipped race at $55, while families can partake in a fun run for $50. Cyclists have the option of a 25-mile bike race or a 10k bike race, each with a registration fee of $50. Besides the challenge, participants will receive a long-sleeved dry-fit shirt, food, and giveaways, making it a race package that gives back in more ways than one.
This largest law enforcement-organized holiday charity fundraiser in the Tampa Bay Area isn't simply about crossing a finish line. A visit from Santa Claus, food, children’s activities, and the communal spirit of giving ensure there's entertainment for every member of the family. The proceeds go towards the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Christmas Sharing Project, which, according to official records, supported 229 families and 604 children in 2023, providing gifts, food, and clothing to brighten their holidays.
