A 69-year-old climber suffered severe injuries following a substantial fall while navigating the Chockstone climbing route in Eldorado Canyon State Park, Boulder County. According to the Boulder County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred on Sunday, and the climber was found unconscious after tumbling approximately 70 feet.
The Boulder County Communication Center received a distress call at about 2:19 p.m. Upon discovery, rescuers and witnesses administered CPR to the fallen climber, who eventually regained a pulse. Personnel from various agencies converged on the location, including Eldorado Canyon State Park employees and teams from Rocky Mountain Rescue Group and Mountain View Fire Protection District. The climber's evacuation, hampered by the park's rugged terrain, necessitated meticulous effort and took close to two hours.
Assistance throughout the rescue operation was provided by an assembly of local emergency services.
