A fire in Franklin Township, Fayette County, claimed the life of a local man early Wednesday morning. 73-year-old Denton Martin was unable to escape his mobile home on Bolden Road after it became engulfed in flames. According to WPXI, emergency services were alerted to the incident at approximately 1:40 a.m. and arrived to find the home ablaze.
Fayette County Coroner, Dr. Bob Baker, has since identified Martin, confirming his death at the scene. While the cause of the blaze has yet to be determined, authorities have indicated that it appears to have occurred accidentally. In his response to the tragedy, Baker urged the community to "Please remember Mr. Martin’s family and friends today as they grieve their loss," as per his Facebook post, reported by WPXI.
Images captured by Sky 4 highlighted the extent of the devastation caused by the fire, which reduced Martin's residence to ruins. The footage was later aired by WTAE, further emphasizing the severity of this incident.
