An Akron teenager has succumbed to the wounds he sustained in a mass shooting at a Bath Township Airbnb during a birthday party over the weekend. The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that 18-year-old Elijah Wells was hit by multiple bullets and later died at the Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center, as reported by Cleveland19 on Thursday.
The incident, which also injured eight other individuals, occurred shortly after midnight on Sunday, November 2, at a residence rented through Airbnb on the 900 block of Top-O Hill Drive. In the midst of the chaos, attendees, most of whom were reported by police to be under the age of 18, scrambled to quickly find safety. Details on the motive and perpetrators are still scarce, as Bath Police continue to thoroughly investigate the case, urging anyone with relevant information or footage from the scene to come forward, according to FOX8.
Elijah Wells was one of seven individuals shot, and two others were injured in the violence. In a statement obtained by WKYC, Bath Township Police Chief Vito Sinopoli conveyed his condolences, saying, "Our deepest sympathy is extended to Elijah's family and loved ones during this time of incredible loss." The report indicates that while five other shooting victims have been released from the hospital, two remain hospitalized.
No suspects have been arrested yet, as detectives work diligently to process a significant amount of evidence.
