Arlington High School's senior and cheer team captain, Desirae Lawson, has been honored with the City of Arlington's Student-Athlete of the Month award for November 2025, the Office of Communication announced recently.

Lawson's achievements span both athletic prowess and academic excellence: as a leading figure on the Arlington Cheer team for four years, her contributions extend beyond cheerleading—she has been an active member of the student council since the fifth grade, showing a dedication to leadership and service which her coach, Olivia Miller, sees as exemplifying the ideal student-athlete, "Desirae embodies exactly what I would want a Colt Cheerleader to embody," said Miller, and she adds, per the City of Arlington, "She is not only a great cheerleader and a great leader on our team, but she's also great in the classroom."

Post-graduation, Lawson aims to attend the University of Texas with plans to major in Pre-Physical Therapy, expanding her education further into the realm of health and wellness.

More information on Arlington ISD's athletic programs can be found across the school district's offerings, the diverse offerings of which students like Lawson benefit from as they strive in their sports and academics, a testament to the school's commitment to fostering talent in various arenas.
