Arlington High School's senior and cheer team captain, Desirae Lawson, has been honored with the City of Arlington's Student-Athlete of the Month award for November 2025, the Office of Communication announced recently.
Lawson's achievements span both athletic prowess and academic excellence: as a leading figure on the Arlington Cheer team for four years, her contributions extend beyond cheerleading—she has been an active member of the student council since the fifth grade, showing a dedication to leadership and service which her coach, Olivia Miller, sees as exemplifying the ideal student-athlete, "Desirae embodies exactly what I would want a Colt Cheerleader to embody," said Miller, and she adds, per the City of Arlington, "She is not only a great cheerleader and a great leader on our team, but she's also great in the classroom."
Post-graduation, Lawson aims to attend the University of Texas with plans to major in Pre-Physical Therapy, expanding her education further into the realm of health and wellness.
