Two Athens community centers will temporarily close this month for annual maintenance. Heard Park Community Center at 400 McKinley Drive and Lay Park at 297 Hoyt Street will close beginning November 22 for gym floor sanding and refinishing, according to the Athens-Clarke County Government website.
Due to strong odors and dust during the process, both centers will remain closed through the Thanksgiving holidays and reopen on December 1 at 8:00 a.m.
