The Aurora Police Department is reporting an increase in its ranks following the addition of nineteen new officers, an announcement that came through the department's official social media channels. These officers have completed a rigorous training program, clocking in at 27 weeks and over a thousand hours, designed to prepare them for community service with a commitment to integrity and safety.
The cohort of new officers brings a range of experiences and backgrounds to the force, with ages spanning from 21 to 57. In a statement shared on Facebook, the department celebrated the diversity of motivations and life stories that these recruits bring to their roles. Some come to the job with long-held aspirations of serving in law enforcement, while others decide to join the force after establishing careers in other fields, with each officer having taken the same promise "to serve with courage, compassion, and dedication."
Integral to the training curriculum were lessons in Colorado law, alongside the development of communication skills and de-escalation tactics. Having been forged under trying conditions, these individuals now step into the realm of public service, ready to honor their pledge and contribute to a "safer Aurora for everyone," as stated by the Aurora Police Department.
