The city of Austin is bracing for a mix of sun and showers as the latest weather forecast indicates a swing in conditions over the next few days, according to the National Weather Service. Residents can expect the day to brighten up gradually after a cloudy start, with temperatures peaking near 84 degrees and a calm south wind in the equation.
As night falls, the possibility of drizzle emerges, with the weather taking a cloudy turn and temperatures dipping to a comfy low around 69 degrees. The southeast wind it's meant to be mild, will lose its gusto come the stroke of midnight, the atmosphere is one of calm. Looking ahead to Wednesday, there's a 20 percent chance that showers will grace the day that otherwise remains mostly cloudy, while the calm will give way to a soft southern breeze later in the morning, bringing temperatures close to a high of 85 degrees.
Wednesday night ups the ante, bringing a 30 percent potential for showers and thunderstorms while remaining mostly cloudy and hanging onto a low of about 70 degrees with that familiar southeast wind still moving at a gentle pace. Come Thursday, the likelihood of showers, and maybe a rumble of thunder after 9 am, surges to 70 percent under mostly cloudy skies, where the heat takes a slight dip to a high near 78 degrees amidst brisker southeast winds, gusting up to 20 mph.
The wet conditions look to persist into Thursday night with more showers and possible thunderstorms on the menu. Meanwhile, the clouds aren’t going anywhere, and the mercury readjusts to a low around 65 degrees. The wind then makes a shift from south to west southwest after the day calls it quits. Friday could see a lighter touch, with a 40 percent chance of rain, mainly before noon, then Austinites might witness mostly sunny skies and a warmer slice of the day with highs around 80, and the winds taking another turn, this time from west to north northwest as the afternoon unfolds.
The weekend’s forecast suggests a mix of sun and chances of showers—Saturday holds a 20 percent chance of precipitation post-noon amidst a lot of sunshine with a high in the mid-70s, but by night, that slight chance of showers remains under partly cloudy conditions and cooler temps hovering around 55 degrees. Come Sunday, the city finds a 30 percent chance of rain against a backdrop of partial sunshine, temperatures peaking near 73 degrees, while at night, clouds gather once more, accompanied by a similar possibility of rain and lows around 58. The following Monday continues the pattern with a 40 percent chance of showers and a mix of clouds and sun, with highs steady in the low 70s.
