A new housing initiative aimed at assisting families experiencing homelessness is set to break ground in Avondale on Nov. 6. This bridge housing project, a strategic effort by the City of Avondale and Maricopa County, is poised to deliver six residential units designed with two bedrooms, one bathroom, and a full kitchen for each. The project emerges as a beacon of hope for those in need of temporary, yet stable accommodations as they navigate their way toward securing a permanent place to call home.
The construction site is conveniently located across from the CareFirst Avondale Resource Center at 995 E. Riley Drive. The initiative taps into funds from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), with the end goal of concluding construction by April 2026. As development progresses, the Avondale community should anticipate and plan for possible detours due to temporary road closures on Eliseo C. Felix, Jr. Way. Drivers are asked to exercise caution in the vicinity.
