A harrowing ordeal in Beaver County led to the arrest of a couple after they allegedly kidnapped a woman and threatened her life. The encounter began in Aliquippa and unfolded until the victim made a daring escape in Pittsburgh's Allentown neighborhood.
Details provided by WPXI reveal that Ariel Harper and her boyfriend, Tyrone Turner, are accused of forcefully taking the woman, who rented a car for them, at gunpoint. This situation escalated when the couple accused the victim of stealing money. They proceeded to transport her to Pittsburgh under the threat of death, where Harper and Turner told the victim they intended to meet individuals they would pay to kill her.
The victim's opportunity to escape came when their vehicle stopped at a red light near Pittsburgh’s Zone 3 police station. Seizing the moment, she jumped from the car and ran for help. Pittsburgh Police responded and escorted her back to Beaver County. Det. Sgt. David Mosura of the Aliquippa Police Department appraised her quick thinking, stating in an interview obtained by WPXI, “It was quick thinking on her part. It was quick thinking on her part. The last thing we want is to encourage anyone fight back. She did the best thing she could and got away.”
Investigating authorities managed to track down Turner and Harper at their Linmar Terrace home after the incident. The suspect couple was apprehended without further incident, and a cache of items was retrieved, including a gun and the victim's personal effects.
