In what's shaping up to be a concerted crackdown on retail theft, the Bensalem Township Police Department is putting shoplifters on notice with their latest initiative titled 'Bensalem Secure.' This campaign, a collaborative effort between the police, the Bensalem Township Economic Development Corporation, and local businesses, is taking a robust stance against retail theft within the township, with a clear message: zero tolerance.
As posted on the Bensalem Police Department's social media, authorities will be updating the community weekly with a list of individuals arrested on charges related to retail theft. "Bensalem Township Police have zero tolerance for retail thefts and will arrest anyone detained or identified as committing these crimes," reads part of the post. Emphasis is firmly placed on the policy of presumption of innocence, reminding residents that all persons listed are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The initiative comes at a time when retail businesses are grappling with the significant impacts of theft, which not only affects their bottom lines but also the safety and security of employees and customers alike. Bensalem Secure aims to address these concerns holistically, hoping to deter would-be offenders and reassure the community that their local marketplace is being safeguarded against such criminal activity.
