
A Big Bear City man, identified as Tamio Sakai, has been arrested on charges of attempted murder following the discharge of a firearm outside his estranged spouse's residence. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department reported that the incident occurred early on the morning of November 3, and responding deputies took Sakai into custody without further incident.
According to the official report by the department, Sakai, 78, was discovered beside his vehicle with a recently-fired gun in the 1100 block of N. Mound Street around 6:55 am. Law enforcement officials believe Sakai fired multiple rounds in the direction of his estranged spouse, who, fortunately, was not injured during the event. The suspect is now being held on $1,300,000.00 bail at The West Valley Detention Center.
Following the arrest, Sakai's arraignment was scheduled for November 5 at the San Bernardino County Superior Court.
