Residents in the Southeast Water District of Wilson County should be on alert, as a water main break has compromised the integrity of the local water supply. According to a recent update from the Wilson County Water Services, the break has led to periods of low pressure and even complete outages. This issue not only inconveniences the population but also poses a potential health risk as decreased pressure can lead to back siphonage, introducing harmful bacteria into the system.
The county's announcement strongly advises affected customers to boil all water used for human consumption or to use bottled water. Boiling water for at least one minute should effectively kill any pathogens present. The advisory remains in effect until further notice, effectively urging the community to remain vigilant and to also conserve water wherever possible.
In dealing with the present situation, the Division of Water Resources highlighted the steps to be taken when service is resumed. "Therefore the Division of Water Resources advises that when water is restored consumers boil all water used for human consumption (including drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation) or use bottled water," the division shared in a Wilson County Government statement.
