Today, Boston Police officers from District B-3 in Mattapan arrested two individuals during a traffic stop in Dorchester. The suspects, Zion Ford, 18, of Boston, and Jamori Freeman, 21, of West Roxbury, are facing multiple firearm-related charges.

At approximately 12:42 a.m., a sergeant on routine patrol observed a vehicle on Blue Hill Avenue with a defective brake light and initiated a traffic stop. During contact with the occupants, the rear passenger appeared to be concealing something, prompting a search. A subsequent pat frisk of the vehicle uncovered two firearms, according to the Boston Police Department.

The recovered firearms included a Smith & Wesson SD9 VE with a defaced serial number and a Deterrence Dispensed Civilized Defense CDD 17.2 that did not have a serial number. Both weapons contained ammunition, with the Smith & Wesson loaded with one round in the chamber and additional rounds in the magazine.

Ford and Freeman were detained, handcuffed, and taken into custody at the scene. They are scheduled for arraignment in Dorchester District Court. Ford faces charges including carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a firearm without an FID card, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of a large-capacity firearm, and defacement of a firearm serial number. Freeman faces similar charges related to the illegal possession and carrying of a firearm. District detectives have been notified and are handling the ongoing investigation.
