Following a report of theft and menacing behavior, Boulder Police have successfully apprehended the suspect implicated in last week's incident at McGuckin Hardware. On Friday evening, Jesse James, a 34-year-old Boulder resident, was taken into custody in connection with the events that unfolded the prior day. According to Boulder Police, the arrest was made following the discovery of items linked to the suspect at a local encampment. These included clothing identified as part of the robbery and a BB gun resembling the weapon reportedly brandished during the event.
As conveyed in a prior press release, the altercation at McGuckin Hardware took place around 6 p.m. last Thursday. Store employees confronted a man for concealing merchandise and bypassing the registers without payment, after which, he revealed a gun, leading them to retreat, allowing the suspect to exit the store. Boulder Police later identified this man as Jesse James, who is now facing charges of aggravated robbery, felony menacing, and carrying a concealed weapon. In the aftermath of the incident, the community's help was instrumental, and Boulder Police extended their thanks to the public's assistance.
