Two years after a tragic shooting at an apartment complex in Houston, authorities have made a breakthrough in the case with an arrest. The Houston Police Department disclosed that they have apprehended a suspect in connection to the shooting that claimed the life of 26-year-old Hope Renee Saenz. The incident took place at 12200 Fleming Drive on the evening of October 22, 2023, as reported by City of Houston News.
William H. Jackson, aged 20, has been charged with capital murder and is currently under the jurisdiction of the 174th Criminal District Court. In a statement procured by the Houston Police Department, "HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting/home invasion call at the apartment complex... and found the female unresponsive inside her apartment suffering from a gunshot wound," as stated by the City of Houston.
Two unidentified men forced their way into the apartment and started shooting, killing Saenz. Fortunately, two children inside were not hurt. After investigating, HPD Homicide Division Sergeants M. Casso and M. Brady believe the motive was a robbery that went wrong, as per the City of Houston.
Jackson, who was not immediately linked to the crime, emerged as a suspect through ongoing police work. His apprehension on Tuesday and subsequent charge has been seen as a significant step towards justice. Houston Police Department has since reached out, urging the public "to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS" as noted by the City of Houston.
