The N.C. Department of Transportation has closed Dimmocks Mill Road over I-85/I-40 in Orange County to begin a bridge rehabilitation project. The closure is expected to remain in place until November 21, pending weather conditions.
During the closure, drivers will be directed to detour routes that include New Grady Brown School Road, Orange Grove Road, and Eno Mountain Road, which is expected to handle most of the redirected traffic. NCDOT stated that these roads will serve as the primary detours around the construction area.
Transportation officials are advising motorists to plan ahead and remain alert for construction crews working to complete the bridge rehabilitation safely and efficiently. Drivers are reminded to follow posted traffic signs and detour routes to help ensure safety for both workers and commuters during the closure period.
