A Bronx man is now facing attempted murder charges after a violent incident in July where he allegedly used his SUV to run over three women, said Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark. The shocking event took place on East Tremont Avenue, causing serious injuries to two of the victims, one of which suffered spinal and pelvic fractures as well as a shattered collarbone, the other, two brain bleeds and severe ankle fractures.

According to an announcement by the Bronx District Attorney's Office, 26-year-old James Dillon from Quincy Avenue was arraigned on a slew of charges including three counts of Attempted Murder in the second degree, and multiple counts of first and second-degree Assault, among others. Dillon, who also faces charges for leaving the scene of an accident without reporting it, allegedly initiated the attack following a street altercation involving several individuals near a bar located at 3233 East Tremont Avenue.

The terrifying chain of events unfolded in the early morning hours of July 20, when Dillon, amidst the scuffle, got into his Mitsubishi SUV, struck two women in the street, performed a U-turn before driving onto the sidewalk, and hit a third woman, dragging her for several yards before fleeing the scene, the investigation revealed. As it stands, Dillon's bail is continued and his next court appearance is scheduled for January 22, 2026.

The case is under the stewardship of several high-profile members of the Bronx District Attorney's Office, including Assistant District Attorney Elizabeth Doty of Trial Bureau 50, and under the supervision of chief officers from various bureaus. District Attorney Clark expressed gratitude towards the collaborative law enforcement efforts that included NYPD Detective Jeffrey Gaston of the 45th Precinct, and highlighted the assistance of several trial preparation assistants and a video technician, which proved instrumental in the investigation.
