Brooklyn residents are calling for action after several violent dog attacks, including one that left multiple pets seriously injured. ABC7NY reported that a French bulldog named Calypso was attacked in her building’s foyer, suffering a dislocated shoulder and possible loss of an eye. Calypso’s owner, Diane Bradley, said the dog “had been in the mouth of one of the pit bulls” and described how the attacking dogs’ owner had to intervene to free her pet.

This is not the first time these pit bulls have attacked residents’ pets. Leshia Palmer’s dog, Milo, was injured and required $2,000 in veterinary care. Another dog, Denim, was killed in an attack. Denim’s owner, Latoya Nunn, told ABC7NY, “She didn't do anything to cause them to come to her. They caught her off guard, both of us. One had her in their mouth, and the other was biting from the back and she died.”

After one of the attacks, witnesses say the dogs’ owner was caught on video striking his own pets. Neighbors have raised concerns about the ongoing aggression, especially because a YMCA and a school are nearby. In response, the building management company, ELH Management, has started legal action against the tenant who owns the pit bulls. The company stated and cited by CBS News, “The safety and well-being of our residents and their pets are our top priorities.” The Bradley family is also reportedly planning to sue, as they face both physical and financial impacts from the attack.
