A late-night stop in a southwest Houston parking lot today resulted in a shooting that left a man dead and his sister hospitalized for surgery, police say. Houston officers responded to the 11100 block of South Post Oak Road, where they found a man with a gunshot wound to his upper body and a woman shot in the stomach. Both were transported to nearby hospitals, where the man was later pronounced dead. Authorities said the woman was stabilized.
Speaking to ABC13, Houston Police Lt. A. Ali said detectives quickly obtained surveillance video from a nearby business. The footage reportedly shows two men approaching the siblings, an argument occurring, and both suspects opening fire before fleeing in a white sedan.
A video report from KHOU noted that few details have been released so far, adding that homicide detectives were investigating the scene and canvassing nearby businesses for cameras that might have recorded the suspects or their getaway vehicle.
Recent Violence Along South Post Oak
This shooting is the latest in a series of violent incidents along the South Post Oak corridor. Last week, a party at an event space on Vandalia Way ended in one death and five injuries, the Houston Chronicle reported. Neighbors and local officials have expressed concerns about late-night gatherings and the problems that can result.
How To Help Investigators
Houston police are asking anyone who saw or recorded anything along South Post Oak around the time of the shooting to come forward. Tips can be submitted directly to the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or through Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS, according to city police news releases.
Investigators say anonymous tips are welcome and stress that surveillance footage from nearby businesses, vehicles, or home security systems could be crucial in identifying the two men seen in the video.
