In a recent sweep for community safety, the Calaveras County Probation Department, paired with Calaveras County Sheriff's Office AB 109 Deputies, chalked up a busy October with 100 high-risk field contacts. A social media post from the department detailed the results, including the confiscation of a smorgasbord of illegal items and subsequent arrests.
The month-long operation netted two firearms, an array of blades including two machetes and a baton, 40 syringes, 12 pipes commonly used for smoking methamphetamine, over 228 grams of narcotics, 90 milliliters of liquid drugs, and a stash of psilocybin mushrooms—all from individuals prohibited from possessing such items. These operations led to 16 arrests, showing law enforcement’s focused effort to curb illegal activity in the area.
Calaveras Probation officers strive for a balance in their approach, dedicated not only to the enforcement aspect but also to the offering of rehabilitative services to their clients.
