A vehicular accident in Washington County, Wisconsin, left one person seriously injured after the car they were in launched into a home on County Highway H. The distressing event unfolded yesterday, as reported by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office via social media, where it was indicated that "callers advised that one person was lying on the ground injured and that three individuals had been inside the vehicle at the time of the crash."
The incident occurred at noon, when a westbound vehicle, reportedly housing three coworkers, veered off the road following a verbal altercation between the driver and the rear passenger; the car entered a ditch, went airborne, and struck a residence. According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office post, the vehicle's driver and front passenger sustained minor injuries and assisted in pulling out the rear passenger, who suffered serious injuries. Thankfully, no one in the struck residence was injured during the chaotic incident. They immediately dispatched deputies and state troopers, as well as emergency personnel from regional fire departments and rescue teams, to the scene, where the initial responders shut down the highway for a major part of the afternoon.
Officials from the sheriff's office remain in the process of investigating the accident, while the injured passenger received urgent care at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa. The account posted on the sheriff's office Facebook page also noted that the house hit by the car suffered "significant damage," although there's no current estimate of the financial toll.
The road where the crash occurred was closed for more than three hours to allow for crash reconstruction and the removal of the vehicle, highlighting the severity of the incident and the careful work of authorities.
