With a deadline set for January 31 at 11:59 p.m., nominations are sought for four major categories, including the Neighborhood Leadership Award and Volunteer of the Year. The event, held at the spacious Carrollton Senior Center, will not only bestow honors but also integrate the Mayor’s State of the City address, a fixture of local governance and a platform to outline visions and victories alike. Last year's winners, however, need not apply — they're ineligible for the next three years, a detail noted by the City of Carrollton.
The Volunteer Awards cast a wide net, encouraging nominations of citizens 18 and older for the Neighborhood Leadership Award, and organizations that have committed themselves to the city’s betterment. These may manifest in the form of church outreach, youth initiatives, or any endeavor that underlines the fabric of Carrollton’s society. The Youth Volunteer of the Year Award underscores the contribution of the younger demographic, recognizing those aged 10 to 17 for their service to the community.
