The Chandler City Council has given the thumbs up to two bond sales aimed to bolster the city's infrastructure, a move that will inject $175 million into a variety of improvement projects, from city facilities and parks to street enhancements and water management systems. According to Chandler's official announcement, these funds are a green light from the 2021 voter-approved general bond obligation and earlier authorizations. It's worth noting that the tab for these bonds will be picked up by secondary property taxes which aren't expected to hike since the city plans to even out new sales with retiring old debts.

In particular, motorists and park-goers will notice the improvements proposed, such as the Ray Road/Dobson Road Intersection getting a facelift, Kyrene Road south of Chandler Blvd being spruced up and Alma School Road between Germann and Queen Creek roads ironing out its wrinkles of inefficiency. The park system will also bloom with the addition of Mesquite Groves Park's first phase, while the wheels of public safety will get a boost with a new Police Forensic Services Facility. Traffic flow is set to improve with a new Traffic Management Center, while existing city buildings can expect a touch-up from renovations funded by this financial shot in the arm.

City improvements aside, Chandler is also directing its financial gaze towards a $205 million suite of utility projects, which, according to the same official news release, will be financed through user charges, specifically water and sewer rates. We're talking major overhauls here: water treatment plant upgrades, pipelines being replaced, and a hefty 66-inch redundant sewer line making its way under the Loop 202 Santan Freeway.
