Charlotte County residents should note the upcoming changes in government office schedules and service availability during the Thanksgiving holiday, which will impact various services next Thursday and Friday. Charlotte County announced that administrative centers including the Charlotte County Administration Center, Tax Collector locations, and Property Appraiser locations will be closed during this period.

The closures extend to the Supervisor of Elections, Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller, and all Human Services Offices, residents looking to access these services should plan accordingly, ensuring they address their needs before the holiday or after the offices reopen. The Utilities Department's customer service office will not be open; however, residents can still manage their payments online or by phone, and emergency standby staff will be available for utility crises, should they arise during the holiday break.

Those looking for recreational activities will find limited options, as county-operated skate parks and recreation centers will have varied hours. While the Captain Don Cerbone Memorial Skate Park will remain open, facilities such as the J.M. Berlin/Rotary Skate Park, the Ann & Chuck Dever Regional Park Recreation Center, and others will be closed. Library services will also observe the holiday, with regional libraries — including the Mid-County Regional Library and the Port Charlotte Public Library — closed on both next Thursday and next Friday.

Waste management services will adjust to the holiday schedule as well. There will be no garbage collection service next Thursday, with Thursday’s usual pickup moved to next Friday and Friday’s pickup shifted to next Saturday. The Zemel Road Landfill will also close next Thursday and reopen next Friday. In contrast, the West County and Mid-County transfer stations will remain closed on both next Thursday and next Friday, reopening next Saturday.

For individuals and families relying on public transportation, it's critical to plan ahead as Charlotte County Transit services will be unavailable from next Thursday through Saturday. The Charlotte Harbor Event and Conference Center Offices, along with Charlotte Sports Park county offices, will join the list of closures, as will the various pools managed by the county, with the exception of the Centennial Park Pool which will reopen next Friday with specific hours for passholders and varying types of aquatic activities.
